DeAnn Zachary
49:20

DeAnn Zachary
55:09
is there a specific container that slugs deter from climbing? ie ...will they get into the galvannized tubs?
Nicole Avendaño (she/her) Pierce County
57:17
That's a great question! Slugs are super persistent, so I don't think those tubs would deter them. I know they hate scratchy surfaces. We'll ask Ryan about that too :)
DeAnn Zachary
58:53
I have used egg shells in the garden around plants but cant keep them off and out of containers
Nicole Avendaño (she/her) Pierce County

Our colleague Mary is teaching the Bugs, Diseases, and Non-Toxic Alternatives class on April 23rd. She should cover some info on deterring slugs!

Any recommendations on garlic container size?
Nicole Avendaño (she/her) Pierce County
01:03:48
Hmm, I'm not sure. I've never tried growing garlic! That's a great question to ask Ryan towards the end.

What about pumpkins in containers? Obviously the main body of the plant will spread out over the whole yard, but will it grow alright in a container like other squash?
Aaron Myracle
01:20:20

Terri
01:31:35
I've been noticing lots of potato bags being advertised. Do those work well? What other ways can you grow potatoes. Our soil is bad and we have not had great success with them.
Peggy
01:32:46
It’s all about tomato plants.
Aaron Myracle
01:35:09
We at one point put tomatoes in their pot inside old tires to collect heat and insulate.
Judy Predmore
01:37:34
the best organic compost I've found is in bags from Carpentino Brothers out of Kent. check with McLendons and King Feed on Mountain Highway .
